Sweeping past an old building

The Hoover Building in Perrivale is one of the most famous Art Deco buildings in the UK. But because of where it is, right on the Western edge, quite a lot of people will never have the chance to see it. So, I thought I'd take a photo for you as I went past on my way to Warwick tonight, and here it is. What is it used for these day? A supermarket.

Interesting building though the green light makes it look a bit spooky, no?

And which Hoover IS this? The vacumn cleaner?

Gorgeous building. Thank goodness they didn't tear it down.
What is it, a Tescos now? LOL

Interesting building- the green light gives it a gloomy atmosphere!

I also applaud those who renovate older buildings.

Julia - lol. The one thing for sure is that we haven't got any manufacturing plant capable of filling it. How about a call centre?

mea - this part of London used to have quite a few intereting buildings, their value was only realised too late. This one is protected now (listed) so is relatively safe.

nicola, philipp - Interestingly, poking around for this post I discovered that the floodlighting was part of the original design. It does look kind of spooky taken out of context, but probably because of the size of the building (lagrge!) it looks god in the brick.(flesh, for buildings)

michael - sure is. I went for years thinking Hoover was a british company!

Sam, Denton - at one point this building was loking very shabby, but has been perfectly restored.
