Remember
This weekend in London is all about remembering. The anniversary of WWI armistice is today on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, and Rememberance Sunday is tomorrow.
My photo today comes from the Tower Hill Memorial. Here, just opposite the Tower of London, you can find the names of those of the Merchant Navy and the fishing fleets that died and whose bodies are lost to the deep. These people hardly had a gun between them. 12,000 in WWI, 24,000 in WWII.
Today, spare a thought for the innocent casualties of war and if you are near the Tower of London, take time out to visit.

Lest We Forget
Nice angle you've taken, Ham!
Today (11/11) i've posted the 3rd Quiz on my DP. This quiz is special with an 'extended play time'. As you've played in the Circles...Circles (Quiz 2) with your answer ''the ant vs chocolate bait'' I thought you might wanna know I have a third one coming up;)
Hope to see ya!
Isn't it wonderful to think that today we are all Europeans ? There are wars still throughout the world, but hopefully no more in Europe. Showing the way? This is my hope...
Nathalie, you are right. It's one of the main reasons why the European "project" has to work, almost no matter the price.
One small point - if anyone is ondering about the places in the list, they are where the ship was from. The list goes: Ship name, place, sailors.
Something I didn't know was the 11-11-11 information. Unfortunately we don't remember these events when we start a new war somewhere else in the world.
Actually I think it has worked pretty well so far. More than 50 years without a war between ourselves it's already a pretty good achievement...
Not to mention that today it seems totally inthinkable to go to war with Germany or England like we used to do before.
For that - and many other things - I am thankful to the European Community project. We must go further in my opinion - I know it's not necessarily the opinion of the Brits though ;)
Anyway thank you Ham for this thought to the ones who thought for us, even if it was for stupid wars.
Do you still have veterans in the UK. We have 6 left in France.
Haha, i think we have about 10.
BTW I have a bike like your onion boy from yesterday.
There called oma's fiets (granny's bike) No kidding.
Good ol' Wikipedia - interesting page.
lovely thoughts.
