Busking on the Underground

Coming up to New Year, it might be useful to earn a few pennies to help pay for the holiday excesses. In typically British fashion, busking used to be frowned on and banned (we like banning stuff). Then, in still more bizzare manner TFL decided to license buskers, who have to pass a quality test - the costs are borne by the sponsor. Sort of misses the point in my opinion. (posting a little early tonight!)

Hope he made some cash. I posted about a busker some time ago. At the time i watched only about 5% of passing people toss something into his guitar case.

I had to laugh, this sounds so much like what we do here in US. First we ban, then people complain so we license. Which probably screens out most of the original street artists, no matter how talented. I've often thought this among other things has resulted in streets are a sad lack of street life in the US. Just cars whizzing by.

Happy New Year by the way!
