Slow but sure
L'Escargot is a London institution. It has a varied and incident filled history, dating from 1927 when it was opened with a snail farm in the basement. It is the first owner, M.Gaudin, you see astride this mollusc. These days it is a restaurant of the first order and in common with many such establishments, their fixed price lunch menu represents excellent value for money. What would you rather do - spend £12 in a Pizza hut, or £24 here?Of course, you can always go toParis if you want snails.

post a commentspend £12 in a Pizza no doubt at ALL!
I wonder what their profit margins are compared to the Hut? Without such down market competition I don't suppose they'd have to reduce their prices.....so I suppose we have something to thank the Hut for after all.
Looks great!
Pizza Hut, thanks,
But I'm a Philistine.
Better, can you still get the "early bird" pre-theatre special at Belgo Centraal near Covent Garden? When I was at LSE we could go over there at 5:30 and get dinner and a half of beer for the time the waiter took our order! Good food - mussels may have been on the special menu, great chips of course (they are Belgian), and beer, all for less than £6!
Beats £30 for snails and drinks anytime.
I'll take that
