These also fell

Shot with Olympus E510

In remembrance week, I'd like to bring this monument to your attention in Green Park. It's there to commemorate the 110,000 Canadians who died fighting for our freedom in the two wars, and so often overlooked. It is impossible to capture the monument in a single photograph, the shape it makes is elegant and calming, and then you realise that what you see under the water are so many fallen maple leaves....

I have a very soft spot for Canada for lots of reasons, like Robertson Davies is probably my all time favourite author, and so it's a real pleasure to thank Vancouver Daily Photo for being the first individual to contribute to my charity fund - and a brief mention must also go to what looks to be a great place to go to find a house in Vancouver. If you are considering donating to Breast Cancer Care, any amount - from as little as 1GBP - is welcome and will go straight to the charity and my rather challenging target.

OK, OK, if you insist: one of my favourite quotes from Robertson Davies - "Every man is wise when attacked by a mad dog; fewer when pursued by a mad woman; only the wisest survive when attacked by a mad notion"

Thank you for this very special post. I was moved by your challenge and donated for three good reasons.
1. I also believe in the cause.
2. When I started my blog, you were there at all times to help me with my questions and problems. Always apprecicated and never forgotten.
3. After years of volunteer work, it is so much easier to write a cheque than do all the leg work.

Finally, if I had known I was going to get such a beautiful post on your blog, I would have made a larger donation - but there is always next year!
Thank you.
