February Theme Day - Animals
Another first of the month and another theme day around the worldwide City Daily Photo community. Teh theme this month is "Animals" and in London there is the monument to the animals that died in war - "Because they had no choice". You can find it at the top end of Park Lane

A very thoughtful choice for today, Ham. A beautiful monument - too right, they had no choice...
This is the first such memorial in the world. There are now a few scattered around but none are so large, impressive or heartfelt.
Actually, I am sad to say, this is not the first such memorial. Many of the ones around the world were put up before as this article says: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/3626468/They-served-and-suffered-for-us.html
I actually like the fact that it was done by private subscription. It's the way memorials should be organized.
But I love this one. Try to go and wander through and round it whenever I am near even if I do come away with moisture in the eye.

Very appropriate for today´s theme and Spielberg´s War Horse.
A most interesting angle for today's theme and a very thoughtful one too. I guess animal lovers have a strong voice in the UK - I don't think there's any equivalent in France.
