Guy's Gates

The detail on the coat of arms on the gates to Guys Hospital is quite fascinating, I'm pretty sure that it is supposed to be three panthers with crowns, but they look like three old men to me, rather appropriate for the hospital.

No doubt you have seen the blazon here - http://www.thegarret.org.uk/guyscoatofarms.htm

The arms are almost the same as those of Sir Thomas Guy himself - see http://staffordshiredailyphoto.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/sir-thomas-guys-leopards.html and http://www.pmsa.org.uk/pmsa-database/6459/ amd http://www.pmsa.org.uk/pmsa-database/6464/
