A London photo every day. Some pictures will be there for their own sake, some because they are places you may like to see, all because they are part of what makes London what it is. Requests welcome!

July Theme Day - Chimneys
It's the first of the month, and so another worldwide city theme day. Unfortunately, due to unfriendly people the portal is down, so it's hard to link to others. Try some of my links on the right (a lot of which may well be outdated) for a journey round the world. Edit: http://cdpbthemeday.blogspot.com.au is the place to find others for the theme day this month.
This "Chimney" is the ventilation shaft to a deep level shelter in Southwark, which also commemorates the story of Violette Szabo, a real-life spy whose story is stranger than fiction.
Actually, for a theme photo on the first of July, your post at http://londondailyphoto.blogspot.com/2011/01/heron-tower.html
ReplyDeleteMight have fit the bill nicely. It being Canada Day and all.
Hi Ham,
ReplyDeleteJulie has put up a special blog for theme posts if you want to add yours there. Cheers!

I think you'll find that this Deep Shelter is at Stockwell near the tube station. Not Southwark but Lambeth.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting story for the theme day, very colourful. Well done, thanks for sharing and have a good week.
ReplyDeleteNice structures, and a giant mural as a bonus. Great post for theme day.
