June Theme Day - Feet

I had a different photo in mind for the theme day, but then I heard on Sunday that a Blue Plaque had been unveiled to Douglas Bader, commemorating where he lived in London for the last 27 years of his life. And, even though I've had to borrow the photo, I had to run the story.

Douglas Bader's life is the stuff that might be dreamed up for "Boy's Own" or the like. If you haven't heard the story or seen "Reach for the Sky" (the film based on his life) I urge you to read it here or here. It was he who lost both feet (and lower legs) in a plane crash, went on to fly and fight in WWII, escape repeatedly from prison camp (until they took his artificial legs away) and spent his life after the war campaigning for and helping the disabled.

Noble feet meet London feet! Sir Douglas Bader feet were artificial feet! Hero feet meet campaigning for good feet. Brit feet and fighter pilot feet a story treat! EAGAN daily photo feet greet from my Minnesota, USA street!

On the lateral thinking front aces high. Possibly the most heroic theme day post.

You win the best tale for feet.

Ah, yes, "Tin Legs Bader". We learned about him in school; I doubt whether he'd make the curriculum these days. Too much "stuff" to cram into young heads...
