Shot with Olympus E520
This plain door is the entrance to Private Eye magazine, the publication that carries the torch lit by Punch and combines trailblazing investigative journalism with gossip and great cartoons. There's an online version these days, have a read.

Coffee and Football

The coffee in the Bar Italia used to be better - it is still good but rather expensive. However for a place to go and hang out, it has few equals. A piece of classic London for the last 60 years, open through the night. Just don't visit when Italy are playing a match.

Did someone say "Cake"?

Shot with Olympus E520
To ease you gently into the new week, here's a photo I took in Mrs Marengo's an offshoot of Mildred's, a vegetarian restaurant that was an early arrival in the gentrification of Soho, nearly twenty years ago.

Any more words are superfluous.

Cityscape

Shot with Olympus E520
In London you are never more than six feet away from something quirky or unusual. Today, I went into the Rooftop Gallery in d'Arblay Street because I saw they had an exhibition called The City - "Contemporary artists' interpretations of the urban landscape". It is not somewhere you are likely to wander into by accident, but it proved to be interesting. This shot is detail from one of Robert Swedroe's Cyber Collages, it's one of those pieces that works well both as a whole and in detail. He is an architect and artist based in Miami, and his work reflects his vision of the cityscape. And the rooftop bit? you bet.

The exhibition runs to the 6th September. See where on the London Daily Photo Map

Can I Have Some Moor, Please?

Shot with Olympus E520
I love the fusion of cultures that thrives in London. This colourful water basin sits outside the restaurant el Cantara in Frith Street. I've not tried it,but from the look of the menu, I may well give it a try.
